Casting Model Plaster 80+ Premium 2.5 kg
Product Details
Museum-Quality White Plaster for Casting and Modelling
DIPON® Casting Model Plaster 80+ Premium is a finely ground, modified natural plaster developed for detailed mould casting, modelling, artistic reproduction and professional creative work.
Its naturally white colour, fine particle structure and creamy consistency help reproduce intricate mould details while supporting excellent air release. The material hardens naturally in air and requires only clean water, making it a convenient choice for artists, hobbyists, educational projects and professional workshops.
Choose Casting Model Plaster 80+ when you need a fast-setting, smooth and dependable white casting material for decorative objects, models, mould work, stucco applications or indoor restoration projects.

What Makes Casting Model Plaster 80+ Different?
- Museum-quality formulation: Developed for high-quality artistic, professional and educational applications.
- Fine-grained texture: Produces a smooth mixture capable of reproducing fine mould details.
- Naturally white: Achieves clean white castings without requiring additional white pigment.
- Excellent deaeration: Helps air introduced during mixing rise out of the material.
- Good stability and hardness: Suitable for decorative models, reproductions and moulded objects.
- Air hardening: Requires clean water rather than a separate chemical hardener.
- Low-odour formulation: Free from formaldehyde, solvents, VOCs and corrosive additives.
- Manufactured in Germany: Produced according to strict national quality and safety standards.
Ideal Applications

Compatible Colouring and Finishing Materials
Once completely dry, Casting Model Plaster 80+ may be decorated or coated with compatible materials, including:
- DIPON® Aqua Blends water-based colour concentrates
- Compatible water-based pigments
- Acrylic paints
- Decorative varnishes
- Epoxy resin coatings
- Polyurethane resin coatings
- Metallic leaf and decorative flakes
- Suitable sealers and protective finishes
When to Choose Another Casting Material
Choose epoxy resin or another polymer casting compound when you need a transparent, flexible, naturally waterproof or highly impact-resistant finished object.
Casting Model Plaster 80+ is primarily intended for indoor decorative applications. Pieces exposed to moisture, regular handling or staining should be allowed to dry completely and then protected with a compatible coating or sealer.
Choose a slower-setting casting material when working on a large or complicated project that requires more than approximately 10 minutes of working time.

Mixing Ratio for Flowable Casting
- Mixing ratio: 100 g of plaster with 65–70 g of clean water.
- Use approximately 65 g of water for a slightly thicker consistency.
- Use approximately 70 g of water when greater flow is required for detailed silicone moulds.
Mixing Ratio for Modelling
- Mixing ratio: 100 g of plaster with 50–60 g of clean water.
- This reduced water ratio produces a thicker, creamier consistency suitable for modelling, stucco and application work.
Example Casting Quantities
- 100 g plaster: Add approximately 65–70 g water.
- 250 g plaster: Add approximately 163–175 g water.
- 500 g plaster: Add approximately 325–350 g water.
- 1 kg plaster: Add approximately 650–700 g water.
- Complete 2.5 kg pack: Add approximately 1.625–1.750 kg water.
How to Mix and Cast
- Prepare all moulds, tools and materials before mixing.
- Measure the required amount of clean water into a clean mixing container.
- Weigh the required quantity of plaster accurately.
- Slowly sprinkle the plaster powder evenly across the surface of the water.
- Allow the powder to absorb the water for approximately 90–120 seconds.
- Mix thoroughly for approximately two to four minutes until a smooth and uniform consistency is achieved.
- Scrape the sides and bottom of the container while mixing.
- Gently tap, shake or vibrate the container to help trapped air rise to the surface.
- For detailed moulds, brush a thin layer of mixture into difficult-to-reach areas before completing the pour.
- Pour the remaining mixture slowly into the mould.
- Gently tap or vibrate the filled mould again to help release remaining air.
Colouring with DIPON® Aqua Blends
DIPON® Aqua Blends water-based colour concentrates may be used to create light, dark or pastel-coloured castings.
- Recommended starting quantity: Approximately 0.5%–2% by weight.
- Add the colour concentrate gradually until the required shade is achieved.
- Use a lower concentration for lighter or pastel colours.
- Complete a small test batch before colouring an important project.
- Record the plaster, water and colour quantities when repeatable results are required.
Demoulding and Drying
- The casting may normally be removed carefully from the mould after approximately 30–60 minutes.
- Handle newly demoulded pieces carefully because the material may still be damp and will not yet have reached its full hardness.
- Allow approximately 24 hours at room temperature for the casting to dry.
- The white appearance will become stronger as the material continues to dry.
- Allow approximately 36–48 hours before painting, sealing, sanding or coating.
- Do not continue with finishing work until the casting is completely dry.
- Thicker pieces, cool temperatures and humid conditions may increase drying time.
Preparation Notes
- Use clean stainless-steel or rust-free tools.
- Make sure moulds and mixing equipment are clean and free from contamination.
- Prepare everything in advance because the practical working time is approximately 10 minutes.
- Always sprinkle the plaster into the water rather than pouring water onto a pile of powder.
- Avoid aggressive high-speed mixing because it may introduce unnecessary air.
- Do not add more water after the mixture has started to stiffen or set.
- Do not attempt to soften setting plaster by mixing it again.
- Test unfamiliar pigments, paints, sealers and coatings on a small sample first.
Finishing Recommendations
- Allow the casting to dry completely before applying a decorative finish.
- Sand rough edges carefully using suitable abrasive paper.
- Remove all dust before painting, sealing or coating.
- Apply a compatible sealer when additional stain or moisture resistance is required.
- Epoxy resin, polyurethane resin, varnish or acrylic paint may be applied after complete drying.
- Do not apply an airtight coating while moisture remains inside the casting.
Safety Information
- Read the product label and available safety information before use.
- Do not inhale or swallow the dry powder.
- Wear suitable respiratory protection when measuring or mixing fine powder.
- Wear protective gloves and safety goggles.
- Work in a clean and properly ventilated area.
- Children must only use the product under responsible adult supervision.
- Do not eat, drink or smoke while handling the product.
- Do not pour dry powder or mixed plaster into toilets, sinks or drains because it may harden and cause blockages.
- Allow leftover mixed material to harden before disposing of it according to local requirements.
- Keep the package securely closed and away from young children and pets.
Cleaning and Storage
- Clean tools immediately after use with water before the plaster hardens.
- Do not rinse large amounts of plaster residue into drains.
- Store the powder tightly sealed in its original packaging.
- Keep it in a clean and dry location.
- Protect it from moisture, humidity and contamination.
- Use only clean and completely dry tools when removing powder from the package.
