How Elto Bert Started – Resin Art Story in Malta
Elto Bert is a Malta-based brand creating custom resin tables, clocks, and functional art pieces.
This is the story of how two friends turned a shared passion for creativity into handcrafted resin work designed to last.
Elto Bert comes from our names — Elton and Robert.
From the beginning, we wanted the brand to feel personal. Not just a business, but a reflection of who we are and what we create.
We worked together for around five years before Elto Bert existed. During that time, we became close friends. We shared the same interests — art, music, and creativity. We would spend time talking about things that inspired us, whether it was a piece of artwork, a tattoo design, or even a song stuck in our heads.
Even back then, resin was something that always caught our attention. The depth, the effects, the way it transforms materials into something unique. At that time, resin art in Malta was still new.
The Start of Resin Art
During COVID, everything slowed down. Like many people, we had to adapt.
One day, Robert came across Elton’s resin work online. What started as a way to pass time quickly turned into something more.
We got back in touch and started talking again. Once restrictions were lifted, we met up.
That conversation changed everything.
Elton shared his idea — to start creating custom resin pieces for people. Something meaningful, not just decorative.
That idea stayed.
Over the following weeks, the research began. Videos, techniques, materials, suppliers. The more we learned about epoxy resin, the more we realised the potential.
A few weeks later, we met again at a local festa. The question was simple:
Are we going to do something or not?
The answer was yes.
The First Resin Piece
The first piece created was experimental — a resin art canvas using inks and mica powders.
Simple, but important.
That piece is still kept today. It represents the moment where this became more than just an idea.
Learning the Hard Way
Starting was not easy.
Finding the right epoxy resin meant testing suppliers from different countries. Not everything worked as expected. There were delays, mistakes, and moments that made us question everything.
There were times one of us wanted to stop.
The other pushed forward.
That balance is what kept Elto Bert moving.
The First Big Project
The turning point came with a custom olive wood dining table.
Size: 190cm x 90cm x 5cm.
This was not a small project. It involved understanding a client’s vision, sourcing materials, managing the process, and delivering something that matched expectations.
It was a full learning experience — from design to logistics.
When the table was finished, the reaction from the client made everything worth it.
She loved it.
That moment gave us confidence.
Resin Art That Has Meaning
At Elto Bert, we do not just create products.
We create functional resin art.
- Resin clocks that become centrepieces
- Resin tables where people gather
- Custom pieces designed for real homes
Each item is made with the idea that it will be used, seen, and appreciated every day.
We want our work to last — not just physically, but emotionally.
Creating for People
One project that stayed with us was a custom resin clock made as a gift.
A group of colleagues came together to create something special for their supervisor. They had seen our work online and trusted us to bring their idea to life.
The thought behind that gift was powerful.
That is where Elto Bert belongs — creating pieces that matter.
The Future of Elto Bert
Our goal is clear.
To build Elto Bert into a name known for:
- Quality resin work in Malta
- Custom functional art
- Unique, handcrafted pieces
We want every customer to feel part of the process.
And we want every piece we create to be something people are proud to own.
